Position Summary
The R&D Manager – Polymer Compounding will lead the Research & Development function for polymer compounds and engineered plastic materials. The role involves developing innovative formulations, improving existing products, managing technical projects, and supporting customer-specific development requirements while ensuring compliance with quality and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the overall R&D activities for polymer compounding products.
- Develop and implement product innovation strategies aligned with business goals.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in formulations, processes, and material performance.
Product & Process Development
- Develop new polymer compounds, masterbatches, and customized formulations.
- Optimize formulations for performance, processability, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct trials, validation studies, and scale-up activities.
Innovation & Technology Development
- Research new materials, additives, fillers, and processing technologies.
- Monitor market trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies.
- Support sustainable and advanced material development initiatives.
Project & Team Management
- Manage R&D projects from concept to commercialization.
- Coordinate with production, quality, procurement, and sales teams.
- Mentor and guide junior R&D staff and lab technicians.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IATF, ISO, and NABL standards.
- Maintain technical documentation, test reports, and formulation records.
- Support audits, certifications, and customer quality requirements.
Customer & Business Support
- Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in customer meetings, troubleshooting, and product approvals.
- Support business development with technical presentations and product recommendations.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in polymer compounding R&D.
- Strong knowledge of engineering plastics, additives, fillers, and polymer processing.
- Experience in product development and technical troubleshooting preferred.
